Remember George Bailey? Who can ever forget this lovable character from one of the most inspiring movies ever made? "It's A Wonderful Life" is a film by one of Hollywood's earliest film masters, Frank Capra (Three-time Academy winner for Best Director), based on the short story "The Greatest Gift" written by Philip Van Doren Stern. The film's failure at the box office became a major disappointment to the studio. But it turned out to become one of the greatest films and a staple every Christmas season. Frank Capra whose film achievements include "It Happened One Night" (1934), the first film to win all five top Oscars (Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Screenplay), revealed that his personal favorite among his films is "It's A Wonderful Life". Starring James Stewart (The Philadelphia Story, Vertigo) as George Bailey, a good soul who think he lost everything when his business went into financial distress. He tried to commit suicide until an angel named Clarence came to save his soul. George wishes that he had never been born and Clarence grants his wish by showing George a reverse setting in which he never existed. Convinced that Clarence is truly his guardian angel, George runs back to the bridge and begs for his life to be restored back to the reality. It's Christmas time! George Bailey went back home to see his wife Mary (Donna Reed) and his kids. The people from their village donated more than enough to cover the missing $8,000 and for Potter's warrant to be torn up. George's younger brother Harry arrives and toasts for the blessing they got received while singing "Auld Lang Syne". The bell on the Christmas tree rings, signifying that Clarence just earned his wings!

ABS-CBN Film Restoration has marketed many of our film classics here and abroad. They also released DVD for us to enjoy in the comfort of our home. One of the best films they restored was the 1982 film, "T-Bird at Ako". Starring Vilma Santos and her long time rival Nora Aunor, T-Bird at Ako is a court room drama with witty dialogues that easily captured the senses of Filipinos. This film shows Danny Zialcita at his best - clever characters, witty repartee and social commentary. Suzanne Gonzales' performance as Nora Aunor's associate was really captivating, same with the performance of Odette Khan and Johnny Wilson as the prosecutor. The most impressive scene from the movie was the court room proceeding where the lawyer character played by Johnny Wilson spontaneously examine the credibility of the defense witness, Odette Khan who played a T-Bird accused of murdering the paramour of her live-in partner. "Ang Tatay Kong Nanay" is a 1978 film by National Artist Lino Brocka starring Dolphy as Coring, a gay beautician who's left with a baby by his former ward Dennis (Philip Salvador). Coring named the baby Nonoy (NiƱo Muhlach). Nonoy grew up thinking that Coring is his real father. The story gets more complicated when the kid's real mother (Marissa Delgado) suddenly shows up to claim her son. I get used to Brocka's melodramatic treatment especially when the scene really demands it. Most of his films are heartbreaking and sometimes, you just have to accept the fact that watching a Brocka film is painful. Lino Brocka's films were a reflection of the society, he knew his target audience. "Ang Tatay Kong Nanay" is Brocka's homage to the plight of the gay community and during that time when the film was shown, gays were discriminated and under-represented. The film's central character shows that gays are also a human being and they are capable of d...
Perturbed by the noise of barking dogs, I woke up in the middle of the night. The cold wind coming in from the open windowpane brought shiver to my half-naked body. Feeling a bit dizzy, I managed to stand and walked a few pace to reach out to that open window. I closed it down. Then I looked around the room and realized that my laptop hadnāt been shut down from the whole afternoon of displaying meaningful visuals to me. I sat down in front of it and went to click aimlessly on the folders buried within the nodes of the treeview, showing my hard driveās file structure. Then I stumbled on it. Movies. I went on and clicked more ātill I ended up on the group of movies categorized as classic movies. I had my eyes fixated on a rather peculiar movie that had a title, āA Walk in the Cloudsā and subconsciously asked myself, "How often do I watch a classic movie?" I guess, once, or twice in four years? Well, I can't remember, really. To sum it all, I ended up watchi...
